Democratization is one of the most talked about political concept nowadays and that which is being debated upon in the olden times. When political scientists speak of democratization, the first thing that comes to the mind of the people is the process of political transition to democracy or a political government that pushes through and supports democracy. It can be remembered that during the early years of pushing democratization into its way to political stability, many things have been considered such as the inclusion of women in the process of suffrage and even the eradication of slavery among the people especially those that are considered members of the black skin society. There have been many attempts made in the past to pursue democracy and to create a wide and national transitional government. However, such attempts failed.

The first wave of democracy was slow in development while the succeeding waves also failed. Such failure can be attributed to the fact that the autocratic government was not prepared to give up the rule of force and the sovereignty to the people. The sad part of the history of democratization is the existence of war which had included the worlds.

However, it can be seen that the popularity of a democratic government has led to the widespread phenomena of human rights and accountability of the government. It eradicated the concept of a political rule of force but rather focused on how the welfare of the sovereign people can be advanced in relation to the role of government to be the protector of the state. With the support that the democratic government is getting from the people, the sovereign state has been able to elect the candidates that they want to represent them in the government. Hence, the ruling power has not been vested to one person only or to a particular group of people that has in their possession control over the society. In the end, it is the sovereign people that have taken over the power and the government through democratization (Soe, 2008).

Globalization and Culture

Globalization is already a part of the existing worlds today. It is actually the process of taking the local things or endeavor into becoming global ones. This only means that globalization is a process or a system of the world wherein all the local things such as products and services that are offered in the local market or national market in the past are already being made available in the international market. For example, for the customer service jobs in some big and huge business of the Americans, previously they are hiring Native Americans to pose as customer service representative. However, nowadays, such jobs are being outsourced in different countries such as in India, Philippines and other countries that use English as Second Language. In this regard, it can be seen that globalization has played a part in the establishment of the cultures of all the nations that are affiliated to the system. It cannot be denied that globalization and culture comes together. One has a greater impact over the other. Globalization does not only share information, products and services but more so culture.

In the given example of customer service jobs in various call centers all over the world, the American businesses are hiring some Asians to pose as their representative and teaching them to speak and talk like an American. This phenomenon can actually call forth the truth of a globalized culture. Imagine those in India, Philippines and other non-Native Americans talking, dressing and acting like Americans. This is globalization in a greater sense. Subconsciously, people from different parts of the globe are being led to becoming something or someone that they are not. The inherent culture, values and traditions are slowly drifting away because of the influence of globalization. It is for the same reasons that there are clashing cultures. The traditional people and those that are influenced are having difficulties in terms of which culture to follow with the ever increasing shrinking of the world into one culture only.
